Dr. Zoolittle and the Penguin Parade
Southern Hills Veterinary Hospital participated in the unique "Penguins on Parade" event, a 2003 community fundraiser benefiting the Tulsa Zoo's African Penguin exhibit. For a nominal fee, businesses in Tulsa sponsored a six-foot-tall fiberglass penguin, which a local artist then decorated to the sponsor's specifications. The decorated penguin was then permanently placed at the business for all Tulsans to see and enjoy. "Dr. Zoolittle" was painted by Anita Robards, mother of Dr. Rodney Robards, the practice owner. There are several penguins throughout Tulsa, but to our knowledge, Southern Hills Veterinary Hospital is the only pet care facility that has one.
